The girl then sighed and told the Saint why she was there. After he carefully heard the whole story, he said to her, “Stop crying and don’t be afraid. Just believe in Christ and you will see the power of God which is greater than the anger of the dragon.” The princess answered, “I believe, sir, with all my heart and soul.” George then ordered, “Sit here, and when you see the dragon coming out, call me.” He knelt down, and prayed to God, “Please, my God, You who created heaven and earth and love all people, help me win against the cunning dragon so that all these people see that You are the one and only true God.”
Then a voice was heard coming from Heaven saying, “Your prayer has been heard George, and do as you will because I am always with you.” Just then, the terrible dragon came out, and when the princess saw him, she cried “Woe is me! I will not be spared. The dragon is coming to devour me!” St. George rose, made the sign of the cross, and said, “Lord my God, make this dragon become tame like a lamb so Your name may be glorified.” Immediately, the dragon fell at the Saint’s feet like a playful puppy. St. George called to the princess, “Take your belt and tie it around the dragon’s neck.” The princess fearlessly and joyfully did as she was told.

| (to) voice (βόις) | Σημαίνει φωνή στα αγγλικά, ή ως ρήμα: εκφράζω, λέω κάτι. |
| (to) cross (κρος) | Έτσι λέγεται στα αγγλικά ο σταυρός. Μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί και ως ρήμα, αλλά τότε έχει πολλές σημασίες όπως σταυρώνω/διασταυρώνω/διασχίζω/εμποδίζω κτλ. |
| lamb (λαμμπ) | Είναι ο αμνός, το αρνάκι. |
